Day 8  :  School hut Hiking to Uhuru Peak to Mweka camp

The time has come for the ultimate challenge: reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The night of the summit is harsh and demanding, with temperatures dropping to -10 to -20 degrees. To face these conditions, we bundle up, wearing layers, ski warm hats, balaclavas, and headlamps. Prepared with these layers, we embark on our journey to the summit. The ascent to Stella Point, located on the crater rim, poses a substantial mental and physical trial. However, the stunning sunrise at Gillman's Point (5756m) offers a well-deserved payoff for our exertions. Pressing forward from Stella Point, the last stretch a brief hour away ushers us to the splendid Uhuru Peak (5895m). Here, we are greeted by the breathtaking sight of the sunrise, casting its glow across Africa's pinnacle. After conquering Uhuru Peak, we commence our descent towards Mweka Hut (3100m), traversing the Arctic terrain. The journey back bestows upon us indelible memories and a profound sense of achievement.
